<Survey results>
◆ 58.0% of companies answered that the inquiry that most likely leads to business negotiations is from the homepage.
In response to the question, “Which inquiries come from most often lead to business negotiations?”, 58.0% of inquiries came from homepages, followed by 31.3% from exhibitions (business card exchangers), and emails (promotions/email newsletters). There was a response of 24.0%. At present, as exhibitions and visits to face-to-face exhibitions are on the decline, it is thought that reviewing the functions and use of homepages will have an impact on sales and promotional activities.
◆ 65.3% of companies are implementing/planning to review their website due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic
Due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, approximately 70% of companies responded that they have “revised” or “plan to review” the functions and content of their homepages in the future. Regarding the purpose and expected effects, most comments focused on non-face-to-face sales and promotion.
-Main comments-
“I’m unable to go to sales due to the coronavirus, so I’m hoping to attract customers to replace it.” “Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it’s difficult to have face-to-face interviews, so I want to make the website easier to use as a sales tool.” “I want to increase the amount of inquiries by increasing the amount of information I send out.” “We want to post product introduction videos to appeal to customers about the quality of our products” and “We want to be able to visualize what the product will look like when it is adopted on the homepage.”
◆ Companies that receive 50 or more inquiries per month via their homepage tend to have a high number of monthly page views.
When asked, “How many inquiries do you receive per month via your website?”, 29.3% of companies answered that they receive 50 or more inquiries per month. We also found that these companies tend to have more than 10,000 page views per month. From this result, it is thought that increasing the number of PVs will lead to an increase in inquiries, which will lead to the creation and increase of business negotiation opportunities.
◆ Efforts to increase the number of inquiries from the homepage are centered on “access analysis tools” and “SEO measures”
Both access analysis tools and SEO measures accounted for over 40%, with many companies implementing multiple measures rather than just one. Among the other responses, there were comments such as “linking to video sites” and “use of external sites,” as well as multiple opinions of “utilizing email distribution systems.” We also saw companies using the information they have in-house to promote the synergistic effects of actively disseminating information.
◆ The top area to strengthen in future marketing is “company homepage”
More than 60% of companies answered that they would like to “strengthen their homepage.” Next, they selected “email marketing” and “content distribution using video sharing services.” As telework and online exhibitions become more popular, the results indicate that companies are placing emphasis on strengthening sales and promotion methods through the use of the web.
