Impact of the new coronavirus infection on business results

In the same survey, when asked about the impact of the new coronavirus on their company’s business performance, 68.0% of companies responded that it had already had a negative impact, while 68.0% of companies answered that there was a negative impact in the future. The answer was 14.4%. The company analyzed that “uncertainty about the future is easing,” as the number of respondents regarding future negative impacts remained in the 10% range for three consecutive months.
On the other hand, although the number of companies that responded that they had a positive impact was small at 3.8%, this was an increase of 0.7 points from the previous survey in July, indicating that the number of companies that acknowledged a positive impact was slowly increasing. are.
Regarding the companies that responded that they had a negative impact, 100% of them were in the inns and hotels, followed by restaurants (93.7%), furniture retail (93.3%), and transportation. “Machinery and equipment manufacturing” (92.5%) and “Fibers, textile products, and clothing wholesale” (92.3%).
On the other hand, among companies that answered that they had a positive impact, the largest number of companies by industry were “various product retail” such as supermarkets at 38.3%, followed by “telecommunications” such as Internet connection industry (22.2%), “Food and beverage retail” (20.3%), “Pharmaceuticals and daily necessities retail” (16.7%), and “Food and beverage and feed manufacturing” (13.0%) were at the top.

Corporate digital initiatives are accelerating

When asked about the status of their company’s digital initiatives, 75.5% of companies answered that they were “working on it.”

Regarding digital initiatives, the most common response was “Introducing online conference equipment” at 60.8%. In addition, “Introducing remote equipment such as telework” (52.7%), “Promoting paperless technology” (36.2%), “Disseminating information using SNS” (16.7%), and “Introducing electronic approval (electronic seal)” (15.3%) %) and “Holding online seminars, etc.” (15.2%) were the top responses.
