WBS is an abbreviation for Work Breakdown Structure in English, and is also called work breakdown diagram or work breakdown diagram in Japanese.
WBS is a configuration diagram that breaks down work and structures it.In projects, etc., large units of work are broken down into smaller tasks, hierarchically structured, and diagrammed.

The steps to create a WBS are as follows:

① Define the deliverables of the entire project ② Break down the entire project into large units of deliverables ③ Break down each large unit of deliverables into smaller units ④ Work required for the deliverables that have been broken down into smaller units (work package) Consider the following, calculate costs and personnel, and formulate a schedule.
In diagrams, large units of deliverables are placed on the left, and smaller units of deliverables and work packages are listed on the right, resulting in a branching diagram called a tree structure.
By using WBS, the entire project is broken down into smaller parts, which clarifies the work that should actually be carried out in practice.
You can create a realistic schedule based on subdivided tasks, and the division of personnel becomes clear.
In addition, by clarifying the man-hours required for a project, accurate estimates can be made, and progress management using WBS becomes easier even after the project has started.
gantt chart
A Gantt chart is a table used in conjunction with WBS.
A Gantt chart is a progress management table that allows detailed management of project schedules, and is created based on work packages broken down in the WBS.
A Gantt chart shows the work content, person in charge, and scheduled start/end date for each work package on the vertical axis, and the detailed date and time on the horizontal axis, making it possible to check the progress at a glance.

OBS (Organization Breakdown Structure)

OBS is a diagram showing the allocation of personnel based on the work packages broken down in WBS. The OBS is an organizational chart that describes the organization’s responsibilities for the project, so it is important for moving forward with the project. Therefore, if there is a change in the person in charge or organization, it is necessary to update OBS.
