What is navigation?
Navigation is an English word that means “navigation, navigation, flight, operational instructions.”
It generally refers to the route or directions to a destination, and is also used in Japanese English. In the
IT
context, it is mainly used in two senses:
Website navigation
A navigation menu is a menu placed on a website page with links that allow users to move around the site. There are two types of website navigation menus: global navigation and local navigation.
Global navigation is also abbreviated as “Gronavi”. A navigation menu that is common to the entire website and serves as a guide to the entire site. It is often placed at the top of the site, sidebar, or at the bottom of the page.
Local navigation is a navigation menu placed to guide you inside a specific page or content on a website. When creating local navigation, it is common to create a common design because if the layout differs for each page, there will be no sense of unity.
navigation system
Navigation in location information systems refers to systems that, when you input your current location and destination, guide you to your destination while displaying your current location using GPS location information. Navigation systems are used in things such as car navigation systems used when driving a car and map apps on smartphones.
